DSD RESAMPLING As the only manufacturer so far, we rely on an innovative two-stage converter design we call the de-constructed DAC. In the digital domain, synchronous re-sampling and delta-sigma conversion create a highly precise 1-bit (DSD) signal. In the analog domain, the DAC handles volume control and filters the DSD signal with an impressive 100 kHz bandwidth. At its heart is one of the finest DAC chips available – the AK4493 from Japanese digital specialist AKM. The integrated phono MM preamp offers wonderfully musical playback and is identical to the highly acclaimed Limetree PHONO II. The headphone amplifier also delivers top-tier sound quality with ample output power, even for demanding headphones. The power amplifier is technically identical to the Musicbook POWER II, offering control and audiophile performance that far exceed its price class. SOUND, SOUND, SOUND The Musicbook COMBO also uses the re-sampling process known from the Musicbook SOURCE II, in which all digital input signals are converted to high-resolution 1-bit signals (DSD256) via re-sampling. With 256 times the resolution of a CD, the conversion to analog is carried out purely through analog filtering – without digital filters or signal processors. The result of this “deconstruction” of the DAC is a completely transparent musical signal: maximum resolution, brilliant tone colors, unlimited dynamics, and a uniquely “real” atmosphere reminiscent of the best analog playback!
